Geiger Textiles is a veritable chronicle of textiles, inspired by materials and motifs historically recognized as the essentials of bespoke tailoring. Each textile is luxurious yet high value, emphasizing timelessness, quality, and honesty over extravagance.
I led Geiger’s introduction of a house brand of proprietary textiles. A means for extending the parent company’s design point of view, the brand primarily was designed to boost sales of Geiger’s vast collection of seating products. The Geiger Textiles identity built upon the core company’s logo to draw upon Geiger’s high-calibre reputation over its 50-year history, while allowing maximum flexibility in application.
As part of the introduction, I designed, wrote, and produced a 72-page launch book that shares the Geiger Textiles brand story, as well as technical and historical information about each of the textiles in the inaugural collection, designed by Susan Lyons and named Ensemble. With a glossary that includes a wealth of commonly used terms in the textiles industry, the 5 x 8 book easily fits on a desktop or nearby shelf for handy access as inspiration or reference.
I also designed a custom sample box for distribution to architects and designers. Made in-house at Geiger from its own ash wood, the box displays a logo on each of its ends, produced by pyrography, the art of burning designs into wood or leather. Inside the box are samples of every pattern and color way of the Ensemble Collection.
The patterns and colors of Ensemble provide a layered, nearly infinite vocabulary across a wide range of prices, giving the designer a versatile tool kit to realize any aesthetic vision. Specifiers can confidently create exciting palettes by mixing and matching among the Collection’s system of patterns and colors. The lush, sophisticated colors range from heathered neutrals to saturated vivids, in a flexible array that includes tonal variations of cream, red, blue, green, brown, grey and black.
